A Remedy for Eczema
The Serendipitous Start
SNB was originally created as a remedy to eczema, not an anti-chafe solution. Our co-founders' daughter had eczema, and they wanted to soothe it. Over-the-counter ointments and steroid creams were not cutting it. So, Stacy set to work in her kitchen and eventually concocted a winning recipe. Thanks to the healing powers of the all natural ingredients, their daughters eczema was relieved.
An Anti-Chafe Solution
The Name Creation
In 2016, Brian Marshall, nicknamed Squirrel, used our slick salve on a mountain bike ride instead of his usual anti-chafe stuff. It worked far better than the usual stuff. Co-founder, Chris Thornley saw the opportunity to make the world a chafe-free place, but knew he needed a name to market it.
Being the creative entrepreneur he is, Chris put two and two together. Squirrel (Brian Marshall) used the salve as an anti chafe, let's go with Squirrel's Nut Butter!

At Squirrel's Nut Butter, we've supported athletes from day one. After all, it was at the 2015 Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run that our product was first put to the test by Matt Keyes, a 10-time Western States 100 finisher. Since that day, we've committed to helping athletes achieve their goals and avoid the post-race shower yelps. From Western States 100 winners, U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifiers, and world record holders, to ultramarathon finishers, serial marathoners, hobby joggers, surfers, travelers, and backpackers, we believe it is important to keep everyone free from chafing.
